ABOUT THE WINE

A. Margaine Premier Cru Brut Rosé is a refined non-vintage Champagne crafted predominantly from Chardonnay, complemented by Pinot Noir grown in the chalk-rich vineyards of Villers-Marmery in the Montagne de Reims. The cuvée typically features approximately 75% Chardonnay and 25% Pinot Noir, with a portion of the Pinot Noir vinified as still red wine and blended into the base Champagne to achieve its delicate salmon-pink color and expressive red fruit character. Fermentation primarily in stainless steel preserves the purity of the fruit and the vineyard’s distinctive mineral signature, while the incorporation of reserve wines adds depth and consistency. Extended aging on the lees develops a refined mousse and subtle notes of brioche, almond, and pastry, balancing the wine’s lively citrus and berry flavors. Its carefully measured Brut dosage provides a harmonious balance between freshness and generosity without diminishing its precision. Elegant yet versatile, this Champagne pairs beautifully with tuna tartare, seared salmon, duck breast, charcuterie, or strawberry-based appetizers, making it equally compelling as an aperitif or alongside a sophisticated meal.

ABOUT THE PRODUCER

Founded in the early 20th century, A. Margaine is a family-owned grower Champagne estate located in Villers-Marmery, a Premier Cru village on the eastern slopes of the Montagne de Reims. Led by fourth-generation winemaker Arnaud Margaine, the domaine is celebrated for its Chardonnay-focused Champagnes, which capture the distinctive chalky soils and cool growing conditions of this exceptional village. The family cultivates approximately 6.5 hectares of vineyards, with Chardonnay accounting for the overwhelming majority of plantings, an unusual distinction in the predominantly Pinot Noir-driven Montagne de Reims. Sustainable vineyard management, careful soil cultivation, and meticulous attention to fruit quality are central to the estate’s philosophy, allowing the grapes to develop concentration while retaining their natural freshness. In the cellar, Arnaud favors gentle handling, precise fermentation, and thoughtful blending to preserve the purity and individuality of each cuvée. Combining generations of family craftsmanship with a modern commitment to terroir expression, A. Margaine produces Champagnes admired for their elegance, vibrant acidity, and refined mineral character.
