NV Pascal Ponson Premier Cru Extra Brut, Champagne, France

Fresh white-fruit and lemon-zest aromas lead into a round, fruit-filled palate with fine bubbles and a chalky finish. Meunier gives this Premier Cru Champagne its generous fruit character, while the Extra Brut style keeps the overall impression dry, lively, and precise.

ABOUT THE WINE

Premier Cru is Ponson's traditional, Meunier-led Champagne, sourced exclusively from Premier Cru vineyards in the Petite Montagne de Reims. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay complete the blend, bringing additional structure and freshness. The producer describes these vineyards as being in conversion to organic certification.

Most of the base wine is raised in stainless steel, with a small portion in oak. This approach retains a bright fruit profile while adding gentle breadth. The Extra Brut bottling receives a low dosage, allowing the wine's fruit and chalky character to remain clear. Enjoy it as an aperitif or alongside oysters, seafood, or roast chicken.

ABOUT THE PRODUCER

The Ponson family is based in Coulommes-la-Montagne, in Champagne's Petite Montagne de Reims. Its winegrowing heritage spans five generations, and the house continues the work of Champagne Pascal Ponson.

Camille and Maxime Ponson represent the fifth generation, working with Géraldine Ponson of the fourth. Their range connects the family's traditional blended Champagnes with more focused expressions of individual sites and grape varieties, maintaining a strong link to the family's vineyards and village origins.
