NV Pierre Gerbais Extra Brut "Grains de Celles", Champagne, France - 1.5L MAG

In magnum format, the NV “Grains de Celles” shines with added depth, nuance, and longevity. This distinctive grower Champagne—blending Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and old-vine Pinot Blanc—balances expressive fruit with mineral tension. Aromas of red apple, lemon zest, white flowers, and crushed chalk lead into a textured, vibrant palate. The magnum format enhances both its aging potential and the wine's inherent elegance, finishing with a dry, lifted salinity that lingers beautifully.

ABOUT THIS WINE

“Grains de Celles” is drawn from sustainably farmed vineyards in Celles-sur-Ource, Côte des Bar—a region prized for its Kimmeridgian marl soils. The cuvée typically includes 50% Pinot Noir, 25% Chardonnay, and 25% Pinot Blanc, a rare varietal in Champagne that lends roundness and floral lift. Fermented and aged entirely in stainless steel, with malolactic fermentation completed, the wine rests on its lees for around 30 months before disgorgement. The Extra Brut dosage allows the vibrant citrus, orchard fruit, and chalk-driven minerality to shine through. In magnum, the wine gains additional textural richness and aging capacity, making it a stellar companion for celebratory meals—think shellfish towers, roasted poultry, or aged cheeses.

ABOUT THIS PRODUCER

Pierre Gerbais is a fourth-generation grower-producer located in the Côte des Bar, a region once overlooked but now celebrated for its expressive terroirs and dynamic vignerons. Aurélien Gerbais leads the domaine with a strong commitment to environmental stewardship, using cover crops, eliminating herbicides, and preserving old vine genetics, particularly Pinot Blanc from massal selection. The estate’s approach is rooted in transparency and site expression, emphasizing precision over intervention. Gerbais Champagnes, especially in magnum, capture the soul of the Aube—vibrant, structured, and alive with place.
