ABOUT THIS WINE

Champagne Vincent Bliard “Les Fondamentaux” is a biodynamic grower Champagne produced in the Grand Cru village of Hautvillers, the historic heartland of Champagne. Produced by the family-run Vincent Bliard estate, Les Fondamentaux showcases terroir-driven Champagne with purity, texture and minimal intervention philosophy.

Made from organically and biodynamically farmed vineyards, Les Fondamentaux is a blend of Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, and Chardonnay vinified for one year in wood. Vincent Bliard considers wood an important part of the house style, vinifying its Champagnes in foudres and barrels. Following the oak aging, further aging is continued through extended bottle maturation, for approximately 4 years. No fining or filtration, and minimal sulfur usage.

ABOUT THIS PRODUCER

Champagne Vincent Bliard is a small, family-run grower estate based in Hautvillers, a historic Premier Cru village in the Vallée de la Marne. The family was an early pioneer of organic viticulture in Champagne, beginning the transition in the 1960s and achieving organic certification in 1970. Today, Florence Bliard and Antoine Bliard-Bocquet continue this legacy, farming roughly four hectares of Pinot Noir, Meunier, and Chardonnay entirely organically.

In the cellar, Bliard takes a traditional, low-intervention approach, with oak playing an important role in the house style. Wines are raised in foudres and barrels, with indigenous yeasts used when possible and minimal additions. The Champagnes are made without fining, filtration, or cold stabilization, allowing the vineyards and varied soils of Hautvillers to remain at the forefront.

The resulting wines are vinous, textured, and expressive, often showing savory complexity, spice, minerality, and depth rather than simply primary fruit. With production of only around 12,000 bottles annually, Vincent Bliard remains a tiny grower-producer whose identity is rooted in more than half a century of organic farming, traditional wood élevage, and a strong commitment to expressing the terroir of Hautvillers.
