2010 Château Mouton-Rothschild Premier Cru Classé Pauillac, Bordeaux, France

The 2010 Mouton Rothschild is a monument of modern Pauillac—at once regal, muscular, and impeccably refined. Opening with a deeply layered bouquet of cassis, blackberry liqueur, graphite, cigar box, and violets, it unfolds with grace and intensity. The palate is dense and opulent, yet tightly coiled, featuring sculpted tannins, profound concentration, and brilliant acidity. A wine of immense structure and precision, its finish reverberates with crushed rock, black fruit, and lingering spice—an icon built for decades of evolution.

ABOUT THIS WINE

A grand expression of a truly great vintage, the 2010 Château Mouton Rothschild is a blend of 94% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Merlot, sourced from the estate’s gravel-rich vineyards in the heart of Pauillac. The vintage was marked by ideal ripening conditions and small, intensely concentrated berries, yielding a wine of incredible density and balance. Fermentation occurred in oak vats, followed by 19–20 months of aging in 100% new French oak barrels. The result is a wine of monumental structure, purity, and longevity—arguably one of the finest Moutons of the 21st century. Ideal pairings include dry-aged ribeye, roast game, or truffle-stuffed pigeon.

ABOUT THIS PRODUCER

Château Mouton Rothschild, elevated to First Growth status in 1973, is one of Bordeaux’s most illustrious estates, located in Pauillac on the Left Bank of the Gironde. Owned by the Rothschild family since 1853, Mouton is renowned for its opulent, Cabernet-driven wines, avant-garde spirit, and commitment to excellence. The estate is equally celebrated for its tradition of commissioning original artwork for each vintage’s label, with the 2010 featuring a design by Jeff Koons. Under the direction of Philippe Dhalluin at the time, Mouton achieved remarkable consistency and quality, producing wines that balance power and polish while staying true to their storied terroir.
