ABOUT THIS WINE

Aliara is the Spanish name for the small tin cup used to dole out alcohol rations on sailing ships in times gone by. This blend is crafted from small batches of exceptional wines vinified with innovative winemaking techniques.

46% Carignan / 33% Malbec / 17% Cabernet Sauvignon / 4% Syrah

Grapes were harvested from Cauquenes-Maule Valley, Lontué Valleyand Maipo Valley vineyards and the vine averages 20 to 80 years old.

The grapes were handpicked using 15-kg trays and 400-kg bins. Upon reception at the winery, the bunches were destemmed but not crushed. The whole berries underwent a six-day cold maceration at 14ºC prior to fermentation using native and selected yeasts in small tanks ranging from 1,000 L (T bins) to 10,000 L, followed by a 15-day post-fermentation maceration at 25ºC. Malolactic fermentation took place spontaneously in barrels. 16 to 22 months in French oak.

ABOUT THIS PRODUCER

Norwegian ship owner Dan Odfjell has spent his life traveling the world and exploring new horizons. One of his voyages brought him to Chile in the 1980s. He discovered the Maipo Valley, where he fell in love with the beautiful scenery and the gorgeous dry climate. And at one particular fruit farm, it was love at first sight—and he decided to put down roots. This is where his lifelong dream of being a farmer came to life, and this was the start of the journey toward what is now Odfjell Vineyards.

Odfjell is a family-owned winery committed to making vibrant organic wines of the highest quality that express the unique personality of our vineyards by following principles of organic and biodynamic agriculture.
