ABOUT THIS WINE
Our Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG "Vignalparco" stands out for its complex aromas and structure in the mouth. 100% Sangiovese grapes from the two-hectare vineyard after which the wine is named, still grown with the precious contribution of eighty domestic geese, who naturally fertilize the soil, eat the grass between the vines and eliminate harmful insects. Like all our grapes, they are harvested strictly by hand. Fermented with maceration on the skins for 15 days, the wine ages for 24 months in second- or third-hand French oak tonneaux before aging for another 6 months in the bottle. Perfect with meat courses and intense, aromatic dishes.
ABOUT THIS PRODUCER
From the winery: "Since the foundation year, in 1969, Casa Emma has crossed decades under the vision of a brilliant and far-sighted woman, Fiorella Lepri. She has opened Casa Emma’s doors and she has led us to the present day. Our philosophy is based on respect for tradition, with an open-mind point of view and an impetus towards the future. Environmental sustainability is the focus of all our production process. Producing with low environmental impact means reducing polluting particles emission, thus respecting Earth. We are a plastic-free company, and we are committed to reduce carbon emissions in the atmosphere. For this reason, over the years we have decided to reduce the weight of the bottles of all our wines from 20% to 25% without altering their quality and aesthetics. Thanks to this choice, we have significantly improved our CO₂ footprint. We follow biodynamic and Organic viticulture principles, we treat our vineyards with natural methods, without using pesticides or phytosanitary products. We use only natural composts produced in the farm and we respect the phases of the moon to work in the vineyards. To preserve the plants and guarantee excellent fruits, almost all the operations in the vineyards are carried out manually. Manual picking remains the tradition at Casa Emma. The grape harvest is a very important moment for our winery and completes the work we have done in the vineyards throughout the whole year. It is not just harvesting for us, it is the selection – strictly by hand – of the best grape clusters that can ensure a high-quality level of wine. Our Vignalparco vineyard is worked with the help of domestic geese. They fertilize the land, they eat the grass between the rows and the insects harmful to the vine, acting as natural protectors for the soil. Their contribution has allowed the exchange of organic substances: such as nitrogen, potassium, and magnesium and an 80% reduction in the use of tractors and mechanical vehicles. Furthermore, this innovative system has allowed to solve soil compaction problems and to observe how the roots of Sangiovese Vignalparco greater explore the land in search of nutrients. Through this experiment it is born one of our best wines: "Vignalparco” Chianti Classico Riserva D.O.C.G."
