2016 Claudio Quarta Taurasi, Campania, Italy
The aromas of Aglianico are enriched with warm notes
of vanilla. The tannins soften for the delight of the
palate. Volume, roundness and length, maintaining the
characteristic acidity and dryness.
ABOUT THIS WINE
Perched on a volcanic hill surrounded by vineyards and woods, it collects the legacy of a historical area and projects it into the future with a contemporary vision and language. It rises in the capital of Greco di Tufo DOCG in the heart of Irpinia, on a hilly ridge, to the right of the Sabato river. The grapes come from selected plots in the most suitable areas and are grown up to 700 meters above sea level, where the strong temperature range enhances its aroma. The soil is varied between clayey, calcareous, sandy and with ashes from Vesuvius. 100% Aglianico aged 6 Months Steel & 12 Months Barrique. Magnificent ruby red colour. Intense nose of cherry, blackcurrant, blueberry, with hints of sweet spices of cinnamon, black pepper, wet earth and dark chocolate. Fine, warm and enveloping sip with elegant and balanced tannins in a softness completed by a pleasant freshness on the finish. Ideal for savory first courses, red meats prepared in long cooking, semi-mature and aged cheeses.
ABOUT THIS PRODUCER
Research, innovation, tradition, and sustainability are the pillars of Claudio Quarta Vignaiolo’s philosophy. Claudio and Alessandra Quarta—father and daughter, with southern roots and an international outlook—bring this vision to life through three wineries in Puglia and Campania, where autochthonous varieties, landscape, and culture converge. Tenute Eméra, the largest estate, lies in the heart of the Primitivo di Manduria DOP in Marina di Lizzano, between two seas; Cantina Sanpaolo is located in the historic district of San Paolo di Tufo in Irpinia; and Cantina Moros stands in Guagnano, the epicenter of the Salice Salentino DOP.
