2016 Rocca di Montegrossi, "Ridolfo", Tuscany, Italy, - 1.5L Magnum

The Cabernet gives it the silky tannin and, on the nose, those intriguing and complex herbal notes. On the other hand, the Pugnitello gives it that touch of rusticity that makes it less aristocratic and, at the same time, more captivating, leaving you with the desire to keep discovering it.

ABOUT THIS WINE

IGT Ridolfo came to life from the intuition and inspiration of Rocca di Montegrossi’s producer, Marco Ricasoli Firidolfi when he found a surprisingly magical union of Cabernet Sauvignon (50%) and Pugnitello (50%). This wine perfectly integrates internationality and tradition and offers another interpretation of the splendid terroir of Monti in Chianti, within Chianti Classico.

The Cabernet Sauvignon shines with its refined fruity notes (blackberry, dried plum) and a well-integrated balsamic component (eucalyptus). These are accompanied by wilder fruit notes (sour cherries) from the Pugnitello, with perfectly balanced spicy notes (pepper, licorice). A highly impactful and complex wine with excellent acidity.

The wine has a production of 24 months in Allier oak barriques and tonneaux, followed by 36 months of bottle aging. It is available in limited edition Magnum and Jeroboam bottles, with hand-numbered bottles. The history of Ridolfo, which gives its name to the wine, has its roots in a family with a continuous lineage and a significant chivalric history dating back to the 10th century.”
