2018 Domaine Demougeot Savigny-Les-Beaune “Les Bourgeots”, Burgundy, France
This wine is very elegant and has incredible finesse. Notes of red fruits on the nose with a forest floor backbone. Supple and fine tannins in the mouth. Decanting recommended when young
The Pinot Noirs are harvested in small boxes, in order to preserve the berries. After passing through a sorting table, the grapes are destemmed and then placed in vats for a period of 12 to 20 days. After pressing, the wine is aged in barrels for one year, 15% of which is new wood, and 2 to 3 months in vats, before being bottled by gravity, depending on the lunar calendar.
Rodolphe Demougeot created his estate in 1992, in Meloisey, in the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune. His winegrower grandparents, whom he often accompanied in the field, gave him a taste for working the land. It begins with 3 hectares, in the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune, in Pommard and Beaune. The estate now covers almost 8 hectares, with plots acquired over the years in the municipalities of Savigny-les-Beaune, Monthelie and Meursault, where Rodolphe has been established since 1998.
A discreet winegrower who listens to his plots, Rodophe Demougeot has chosen sustainable pest management and applies many principles borrowed from organic farming.
