ABOUT THIS WINE

“Allegro” is Appassionata’s mid-tempo Pinot Noir—a cuvée designed for graceful aging and expressive nuance rather than overt power. Sourced primarily from the biodynamically farmed La Bohème Vineyard in the Chehalem Mountains AVA, the 2019 vintage reflects a cool, extended growing season that yielded wines of structure and finesse. Grapes are hand-harvested, fermented with native yeasts, and aged in a mix of new and neutral French oak barrels for over 18 months, followed by further bottle aging before release. The result is a Pinot Noir that walks the line between tension and elegance, offering red berry purity layered with savory depth. A natural partner for duck, mushroom risotto, or grilled salmon.

ABOUT THIS PRODUCER

Appassionata is the vision of Ernst Loosen—celebrated Mosel Riesling producer—who brings his reverence for time, terroir, and restraint to Oregon’s Willamette Valley. Founded as a collaboration with J. Christopher Winery, the Appassionata project focuses on long-aged, classical expressions of Pinot Noir and Riesling that prioritize balance, site expression, and longevity. The wines are not rushed; each release is cellared for several years before being offered, embodying the philosophy that true character reveals itself over time. With meticulous farming, native fermentations, and low-intervention winemaking, Appassionata wines are built for those who appreciate depth, age-worthiness, and a Burgundian mindset rooted in New World soils.
