ABOUT THIS WINE
Il Lussurioso gets its name from the long lasting, luxurious, finish it has on the palate. This Amarone is made from 100% estate fruit, which comes from Buglioni’s Vignieto San Pietro in Valpolicella Classico. The vineyard, Sant’Ambrogio is located at an altitude of about 495ft and consists of dark, clayey soils with a high content of gravel. Grapes are manually harvested towards mid-September and are dried until January using the appassimento process. The wine is certified organic.
ABOUT THIS PRODUCER
In 1993, Alfredo Buglioni purchased a villa in Valpolicella Classico. Not wanting any close neighbors and impressed with the beautiful hillside vineyard, he purchased the surrounding 8.5 acres of vines. Coming from a successful career in the textiles industry, the Buglionis would trade their grapes with local producers in exchange for instruction on farming vines and winemaking. After realizing the terrific quality of the grapes grown on their land, Alfredo and his son, Mariano Buglioni, took their acquired knowledge and passion for wine and decided to produce their own.
In 2000 they released their first vintage. After renovating the farmhouse and the underground cellar, the family recruited Diego Bertoni from the Oneonology Institute of San Michele all’Adige, who is still their enologist today.
Since then, the estate has grown to 153 acres, certified organic. Buglioni is pioneering the path for Valpolicella by creating a fresh, modern vision for its high-quality wines, while preserving the unique expression of Valpolicella Classico’s terroir.
