ABOUT THE WINE
Sourced from organically farmed vineyards across Mendocino County, “Flora & Fauna” White reflects Idlewild’s focus on lesser-known Italian varieties that thrive in California’s coastal climates. The 2023 vintage offers a fragrant bouquet of lemon zest, orchard fruit, chamomile, and wildflowers, balanced by a mouthwatering acidity and delicate weight.
Typically composed of Mediterranean varieties such as Arneis, Falanghina, and other complementary grapes (depending on the vintage), the wine is fermented primarily in stainless steel to preserve aromatic purity and freshness. Minimal intervention in the cellar allows the character of the fruit and vineyard to shine, while brief lees contact adds subtle texture and dimension.
Playful yet thoughtfully crafted, this white blend pairs beautifully with seafood crudo, grilled vegetables, fresh salads, burrata, and herb-forward dishes. Its versatility and brightness make it a natural choice for warm-weather dining.
