ABOUT THIS PRODUCER

Grignano dates back to the Bronze AgeĀ and spans the Etruscan and Roman eras under the name Castello di Vico (the remains of the Vico Bridge are still visible on the road from Arezzo to Fiesole and Florence). From the Middle Ages onwards, it was first the residence of the Counts Guidi and, subsequently, the personal property of Caterina De Medici (1519-1589) who, as a sign of recognition towards her confessor and trusted banker, Bishop Marquis Enrico Gondi, decided to bestow upon him the ownership of the Tenuta di Grignano estate.

In the early 1970s, the estate passed into the hands of the Inghirami family of Borgo Sansepolcro, one of the most renowned and iconic names in Italian textiles and fashion. They turned it into a dynamic and historic wine and olive oil producer with 600 hectares of land, including 50 hectares of vineyards, 200 hectares of olive groves, 100 hectares of arable land, and 250 hectares of woodland. In 1999, the Inghirami family purchased the Pievecchia Farm, expanding the Grignano estate. Tommaso Inghirami now leads the company with a team of professional collaborators. The constant pursuit of technological innovation and quality improvement has driven the Inghirami family to undertake a major investment plan in the vineyard, cellars, and mill since 2018.
