2022 Famille Duc Côtes-du-Rhone "Les Vieilles Vignes", Rhone Valley, France

A classic yet deeply expressive Côtes du Rhône, “Les Vieilles Vignes” channels the strength and soul of old-vine Grenache and Syrah. Dark cherry, blackberry compote, and crushed lavender meet notes of garrigue and warm spices. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied with a velvety texture, well-integrated tannins, and just the right lift of acidity. The finish lingers with savory depth and a touch of black pepper.

ABOUT THE WINE

Sourced from 50–70-year-old vines rooted in rocky, clay-limestone soils across the southern Rhône, this wine reflects the concentration and character that only old vines can yield. A blend dominated by Grenache with a supporting share of Syrah, and a whisper of Mourvèdre, the fruit is hand-harvested, destemmed, and fermented with native yeasts. Aging takes place in a mix of concrete and old oak foudres, allowing the wine’s natural structure and purity to shine without excess oak influence.

Expect generous fruit laced with earthy, herbal nuance—a reflection of the region’s iconic garrigue. This is a versatile red for the table, pairing beautifully with roast lamb, duck confit, grilled vegetables, or hearty lentil dishes.

ABOUT THE PRODUCER

Famille Duc is a multi-generational estate rooted in the southern Rhône, with a strong focus on sustainable viticulture and respect for tradition. The family has farmed their vineyards for decades, many of which are home to gnarled, low-yielding vines that form the backbone of their “Les Vieilles Vignes” bottling. Their approach in both vineyard and cellar is minimalistic but precise—aiming to express the natural balance of their terroir through low-intervention methods and native fermentations. The result is a range of wines that are honest, structured, and deeply Rhône in spirit.
