2022 L'Arco "Arcum" IGT Veronese, Veneto, Italy
Bold yet finely structured, the 2022 Arcum is a captivating expression of Veneto’s sun-drenched ripeness and L’Arco’s artisan restraint. Deeply aromatic with notes of black cherry, dried plum, violet, and baking spice, it carries hints of cocoa, leather, and a subtle herbal lift. The palate is rich but not heavy—velvety tannins frame dark fruit and savory earth, supported by balanced acidity and a lingering finish with echoes of dried fig and sweet tobacco.

ABOUT THIS WINE
Arcum is L’Arco’s flagship IGT Veronese red—a blend rooted in the region’s traditional grapes: primarily Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara, often with small additions of Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot depending on the vintage. In 2022, ideal ripening conditions allowed for full phenolic development while maintaining aromatic brightness.
The wine is produced using a partial appassimento method: a portion of the grapes is dried before fermentation, lending richness, concentration, and velvety texture. After fermentation in stainless steel and extended maceration, Arcum is aged in a mix of small oak barrels and larger neutral casks, allowing complexity to develop without overshadowing varietal character.
Expect a wine that bridges freshness and warmth—ripe red and black fruits balanced by spice, mineral tension, and refined structure. Its generous yet elegant profile makes it a natural pairing for grilled lamb, duck with cherry glaze, or aged cheeses like Monte Veronese or Asiago d’Allevo.
ABOUT THIS PRODUCER
L’Arco is a small, highly respected estate based in Valpolicella Classico, founded by Luca Fedrigo, who apprenticed under the legendary Giuseppe Quintarelli before establishing his own domaine. Named after the ancient stone arch on the property, L’Arco blends tradition with quiet innovation—embracing native varieties, thoughtful farming, and low-intervention winemaking.
Farming is done without herbicides or synthetic chemicals, focusing on soil vitality and vine balance. In the cellar, fermentation is slow and natural, with long macerations and minimal manipulation. The wines reflect the grace of Valpolicella’s terroir, offering both richness and lift, and often incorporate the appassimento method in nuanced ways.
With Arcum, Fedrigo expresses his vision of a modern-classic Veronese red: soulful, structured, and unmistakably rooted in place.
