2023 Domaine Faiveley Chambolle-Musigny "Les Charmes" 1er Cru, Burgundy, France
A pure and polished expression of Chambolle elegance, the 2023 “Les Charmes” Premier Cru from Domaine Faiveley shimmers with finesse and quiet intensity. Delicate aromatics of wild raspberry, rose petal, and fresh red cherry give way to hints of tea leaf and crushed limestone. Silken on the palate, the wine unfolds with graceful momentum—fine tannins, vivid acidity, and a lingering, floral-infused finish. It is a poised and detailed wine that embodies the essence of Chambolle-Musigny’s most charming terroirs.

ABOUT THE WINE
Nestled just beneath the Grand Cru Bonnes Mares, “Les Charmes” is one of Chambolle-Musigny’s most celebrated Premier Cru vineyards. The soils are thin and chalky over hard limestone, yielding wines of aromatic lift and textural finesse. In 2023, Faiveley harvested under ideal late-season conditions, capturing exceptional phenolic ripeness while preserving freshness and moderate alcohol—a hallmark of this beautifully balanced vintage.
The fruit was hand-picked and carefully sorted, then fully destemmed to enhance aromatic purity. Fermentation occurred with native yeasts in temperature-controlled vats, followed by gentle extraction. The wine was aged for over a year in French oak barrels, approximately 30% new, allowing the wine’s delicate structure and minerality to remain front and center. Bright red fruit flavors of strawberry and red currant mingle with floral and savory nuances, while the palate remains lifted and composed.
This cuvée is best enjoyed with dishes that highlight its subtlety—think veal tenderloin, roast guinea fowl, or mushroom duxelles over polenta.
