2023 Domaine Faiveley Meursault, Burgundy, France
The 2023 Meursault from Domaine Faiveley is a refined and vibrant white Burgundy that balances the appellation’s classic richness with a lifted, mineral-driven precision. Aromas of white peach, lemon blossom, and toasted almond give way to a palate of ripe orchard fruit, subtle spice, and saline tension. Silky in texture with bright acidity and a long, stony finish, this is a beautifully composed Meursault with clarity and depth.

ABOUT THIS WINE
Sourced from select parcels across the village of Meursault, this 2023 Chardonnay reflects the warm, balanced conditions of the vintage. Sunny weather promoted generous fruit development, while cool nights preserved acidity—ideal for producing a wine that is both textural and focused. The soils in Meursault, rich in limestone with varying amounts of marl and clay, contribute both weight and finesse to the final wine.
The hand-harvested grapes were gently pressed and vinified with native yeasts, then aged in French oak barrels (approximately 20–25% new) for 12 to 14 months. Batonnage was used sparingly to maintain freshness while building mid-palate creaminess.
This Meursault offers layers of golden apple, pear, citrus peel, and hazelnut, with subtle notes of brioche and wet stone. It is full-bodied yet balanced, ideal for pairing with seared scallops, poultry in cream sauce, or roasted cauliflower with brown butter. While approachable now, it will evolve beautifully over the next 5–7 years.
ABOUT THIS PRODUCER
Domaine Faiveley, founded in 1825 and still family-run, is one of Burgundy’s most prominent and widely respected domaines. Though best known for their red wines from the Côte de Nuits, Faiveley has steadily expanded its presence in the Côte de Beaune, producing a refined and terroir-expressive range of white Burgundies.
In Meursault, the domaine works with growers and sites that reflect the village’s diversity—balancing richness and minerality with restraint. Faiveley’s white winemaking has evolved significantly in recent years, with a focus on purity, tension, and site transparency, driven by minimal intervention and sensitive use of oak.
The 2023 Meursault embodies this modern Faiveley style: a wine of precision and polish that honors Meursault’s traditional depth while offering a fresh, elegant edge.
