This 2023 Auxey-Duresses 1er Cru Rouge is sourced from organically farmed parcels in Les Duresses and/or neighboring premier cru sites in the upper slopes of the Auxey valley, where cool exposures and limestone-rich soils produce red Burgundies with freshness, structure, and clarity. The 2023 vintage yielded elegant fruit with excellent balance between ripeness and natural acidity.
Jean-Marc Roulot vinifies his reds with the same attention to precision as his whites—whole-cluster inclusion is used judiciously, fermentation is with native yeasts, and aging occurs in French oak barrels with minimal new wood to preserve purity. The wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered, showing lifted aromatics, refined texture, and terroir transparency. It’s an ideal match for roast duck, game birds, or mushroom and lentil dishes.
