2023 Radikon “Slatnik”, Friuli IGT, Italy
Textural, aromatic, and unapologetically characterful, the 2023 Slatnik is a skin-contact white that captures Radikon’s signature blend of wildness and precision. A field blend of Chardonnay and Tocai Friulano, it opens with aromas of dried citrus, apricot skin, almond, and wildflowers. The palate is structured and savory, with gentle tannins, lifted acidity, and a persistent, slightly oxidative finish.

ABOUT THIS WINE
Slatnik is made from Chardonnay and Tocai Friulano grown on organically farmed, hillside vineyards in Oslavia, Friuli. The 2023 vintage saw hand-harvested grapes undergo spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts, followed by skin maceration for 7–14 days. The wine is then aged in large Slavonian oak barrels and bottled without fining, filtration, or added sulfur.
Copper-gold in color, Slatnik offers layered flavors of orange peel, stone fruit, dried herbs, and saline minerality. Its tactile grip and vibrant acidity make it ideal for food, particularly dishes with earthy, nutty, or umami elements.
ABOUT THIS PRODUCER
Radikon is one of the foundational names in the world of skin-contact wines. Based in Oslavia, near the Slovenian border, the estate was founded by the late Stanko Radikon and is now led by his son Saša. Known for organic farming, extended skin maceration, and no-additive winemaking, Radikon produces wines that challenge convention while remaining deeply rooted in local tradition. Slatnik is a gateway to their philosophy—complex, textural, and alive.
