2024 Bodegas Hermanos del Villar "Oro de Castilla" Rueda, Castilla y León, Spain
Bright, zesty, and unmistakably Rueda, the 2024 Oro de Castilla delivers pristine Verdejo character with impressive precision. Bursting with aromas of citrus blossom, fennel, and green apple, the wine is crisp and mouthwatering, with a mineral edge and a slight saline snap. ABOUT THE WINE
The Oro de Castilla is crafted entirely from Verdejo, the flagship white grape of Rueda, grown in high-elevation vineyards with sandy, gravelly soils that enhance both aromatic intensity and freshness. The 2024 vintage benefited from cool nights and a long growing season, preserving acidity and aromatic lift. Harvested at night to retain freshness, the grapes were fermented in stainless steel and aged briefly on the lees to enhance texture without sacrificing purity. The wine offers a quintessential Verdejo profile: white peach, lime zest, and subtle anise on the nose, with a palate that is both linear and juicy. It pairs beautifully with shellfish, grilled vegetables, fresh cheeses, or simply on its own as an aperitif.
