2024 Lady of the Sunshine Albariño "Bassi Vineyard", SLO Coast, California, USA
Bright and saline with coastal verve, the 2024 Albariño from Lady of the Sunshine captures the wind-swept purity of the SLO Coast. Aromas of lime zest, sea spray, white peach, and green melon leap from the glass, while the palate is tightly focused and racy. Textural without weight, the wine balances its coastal minerality with juicy citrus and finishes long with a clean, salty snap.

ABOUT THE WINE
Sourced from the organically and biodynamically farmed Bassi Vineyard, perched just 1.2 miles from the Pacific Ocean near Avila Beach, this 100% Albariño reflects the cool-climate precision of the emerging SLO Coast AVA. The vineyard’s ancient marine sediment soils and ocean influence create a perfect environment for this Atlantic variety. The 2024 vintage was whole-cluster pressed and fermented with native yeasts in neutral oak barrels, then aged on lees for 7 months without stirring. No fining, no filtration, and minimal sulfur allow the vineyard’s natural character to shine. The result is a wine of crystalline acidity, citrus peel intensity, and saline drive. Ideal with oysters, ceviche, or grilled asparagus with lemon oil.
ABOUT THE PRODUCER
Lady of the Sunshine is the personal project of Gina Giugni, a second-generation biodynamic farmer and one of California’s leading voices in regenerative viticulture. Working with a handful of coastal vineyard sites—including her family’s Scar of the Sea Ranch—Gina produces wines that are rooted in transparency, energy, and minimal intervention. Farming is always organic or biodynamic, and winemaking is natural: native yeast fermentations, neutral vessels, low sulfur, and no additives. With Albariño, she taps into the variety’s affinity for ocean climates, crafting a wine that feels like a direct line to the fog, soil, and wind of the SLO Coast.
