ABOUT THIS WINE

Situated 10 km from the sea, the climate is mild. While the mistral wind coming the mountains dries the vines, the Marin brings a breeze of humidity. The soil is made of gravels which offers the best conditions for the growth of the vines. Small gravels on the plots for the white and rosé varietals and larger gravels for the reds. The gravel absorbs the heat during the day and warms the vineyards it at night.

Hand picking and traditional vinification at 61°F. Aging 4 months in cement tanks.

ABOUT THIS PRODUCER

Chateau Beaubois take this name from the 17th century Cistercians monks in the Franquevaux Abbaye who found the best terroir in French countryside to produce the best wine. For four generations the Boyer family has succeeded in producing wines that offer elegance, harmony and expression since 1920.

Now in the skilled hands of Fanny and François Boyer (brother and sister team), this 50 ha. estate lies to the south of the Costières de Nîmes, located between Languedoc and Provence, where the vines overlook the lakes of the Camargue. The wines are made from the great grape varieties of the Rhône Valley and present a unique style. François converted to organic farming in 2009 and continually searches for the best methods of growing healthy grapes. Fanny is the winemaker and strives to give elegance and femininity to their wines.

The Beaubois style is inimitable due to the geographic situation front of the Camargue lake and very close proximity to the sea, giving this specific site a 6 degree cooler climate than Nimes during warm Summer days. Those temperatures help to keep the delicate flavors in the Viognier, Vermentino, Roussanne and Grenache white grapes. The daytime warmed pebbles from the Rhône give advantageous nighttime warmth to the red varietals of Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Marselan and Cinsault.
