2021 Château de Béru Chablis "Clos Béru Monopole", Burgundy, France
This singular Chablis from the walled “Clos Béru” vineyard captures the soul of the estate—elegance edged with power. The 2021 vintage opens with crystalline aromas of crushed oyster shell, lemon zest, and white peach, followed by a precise, mineral-driven palate that’s both textural and saline. Vibrant acidity gives lift to the wine’s layered structure, culminating in a long, tense, and slightly smoky finish that speaks to its exceptional terroir.

ABOUT THE WINE
Clos Béru is a historic monopole vineyard enclosed since the 13th century, perched on a high-altitude plateau within Chablis. Its unique microclimate and Kimmeridgian limestone soils rich in marine fossils yield wines of depth, intensity, and unmistakable mineral tension. The 2021 vintage was vinified with meticulous care: spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts, aging on fine lees for 18 months in large neutral oak barrels, and no fining or filtration. The result is a pure expression of Chardonnay—tightly wound yet generous, with notes of green apple skin, wet stone, and flint layered with a touch of brioche and sea spray. This wine pairs beautifully with oysters, sea urchin, or poached turbot, and will reward cellaring for 8–12 years.
ABOUT THE PRODUCER
Château de Béru is a centuries-old estate with deep roots in Chablis, stewarded today by Athénaïs de Béru, who revitalized the domaine after decades of dormancy. Under her guidance, the estate has become a benchmark for biodynamic viticulture in the region. All farming is certified organic and biodynamic, with a strong commitment to biodiversity, lunar cycles, and minimal intervention in both vineyard and cellar. Athénaïs is a vocal advocate for honest, terroir-driven winemaking, producing wines of clarity and vibrancy that reflect the distinctiveness of each parcel—nowhere more clearly than in Clos Béru, the crown jewel of the estate.
