2021 Domaine François Chidaine "Clos du Breuil" Sec, Montlouis-sur-Loire, Loire Valley, France

Plenty of minerals, pear, and some quince in the nose, the acidity is crisp and intense giving way to a full wine that opens up over the palate leaving more quince and river rock sensations.

2020 "Clos du Breuil" is a superb - and more typical - dry Montlouis produced by the Chidaines, on clay/silex soils with white limestone "tuffeau" bedrock. "Clos du Breuil" is a single vineyard near the winery with 60 year-old vines. The wine offers an elegant crystalline palate with subtle white fruits and fabulous mineral notes in the vibrant finish. These are superb food wines - great pairings with griled fish, lobster, shellfish and goat cheeses! And both wines wll benefit from 10 to 15 years of aging.

Second generation estate located in Montlouis, run by the dymanic couple, François and Manuela Chidaine. For years Chidaine has been a leader in natural viticulture, farming organically and biodynamically. Today, Chidaine embraces “regenerative agriculture”, a no-till farming approach where permanent cover crops of indigenous and sown plants coexist with the vines. By mimicking nature, the vines find their place in a complex ecosystem, allowing them to better express their place of origin. Additionally, by building soil, François improves the rate at which CO2 is removed from the atmosphere and converted into plant material and soil organic matter.
