2021 Âmevive Wine Syrah Estate "Ibarra-Young Vineyard", Los Olivos District, Santa Barbara, California, USA 1.5L MAG
Violets, ripe red fruits, lots of acid and grip, this wine will age and cellar exceptionally well.
ABOUT THIS WINE
This vineyard started in 1971 when Charlotte Young planted vines in the Ibarra-Young Vineyard in the Los Olivos District. The vines are sill owned by her three daughters. Everything on the property is own-rooted and has been farmed organically since 1993. mevive began leasing and farming this special place at the beginning of 2020 and employ regenerative organic and biodynamic practices.
mevive's goal is to rebuild an ecosystem of native species that live alongside our vine rows, regenerate soil health, and grow the highest quality grapes this site can give. They believe the best wine grapes are grown with minimal inputs and conscious vineyard management. They reject a systematic schedule for viticulture and farming in general. They believe that by working in conjunction with nature we can increase biodiversity and soil health, minimize unnecessary sprays, minimize tractor passes and compaction, decrease water use, and reduce our carbon footprint.
ABOUT THIS PRODUCER
mevive, pronounced "ahm-veev" translates to soulful, lively soul, and living soul. This is the motto female wine maker Alice Anderson lives and works by. She is leasing and farming an eight-acre vineyard in Los Olivos that was first planted in 1971. She began incorporating biodynamic farming practices in 2020, producing three wines inspired by her time in the Northern Rhone, while simultaneously committing to regenerative agriculture, carbon reduction, and increased biodiversity.
