ABOUT THIS WINE

The 2023 Foradori "Fuoripista" Pinot Grigio, Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT, is a biodynamic white wine that exemplifies Elisabetta Foradori's commitment to natural winemaking. Produced in collaboration with biodynamic viticulturist Marco Devigili, this wine originates from a 2-hectare vineyard on the Campo Rotaliano plateau in Trentino-Alto Adige, Italy. The vineyard's alluvial, gravelly soils contribute to the wine's distinctive character. The name "Fuoripista," meaning "off the beaten path," reflects the winemaking philosophy of embracing unconventional methods to express the true essence of the land and grape variety.

Crafted entirely from Pinot Grigio grapes, the wine undergoes spontaneous fermentation and maceration for 6–8 months in clay amphorae, known as tinajas. This ancient technique imparts a subtle orange hue and enhances the wine's aromatic complexity. Following maceration, the wine is aged briefly in used acacia barrels, then bottled without fining or filtering, preserving its purity and natural expression

ABOUT THIS PRODUCER

Elisabetta Foradori is a pioneering figure in the world of biodynamic winemaking, renowned for her innovative approach to viticulture and winemaking in the Trentino-Alto Adige region of northern Italy. Born into the Foradori family, she took over the family estate at the age of 19 following her father's passing in 1984. Under her leadership, the estate transitioned from conventional practices to embrace organic and biodynamic farming methods, achieving Demeter certification in 2009.

The Foradori estate is situated in the Campo Rotaliano plain, surrounded by the majestic Dolomite mountains.

Elisabetta's winemaking philosophy emphasizes minimal intervention, allowing the natural characteristics of the grapes to shine. She employs spontaneous fermentation, utilizes native yeasts, and ages wines in various vessels, including clay amphorae, to enhance the expression of the fruit. This approach results in wines that are vibrant, expressive, and reflective of their origins .

Today, the Foradori estate is a family affair, with Elisabetta's children—Emilio, Theo, and Myrtha—actively involved in the business. Emilio serves as the head winemaker, continuing the legacy of quality winemaking, while Theo manages sales and distribution, and Myrtha oversees the estate's market garden project. Their collective efforts ensure the continued success and evolution of the estate, maintaining its reputation as a leader in biodynamic winemaking.
