A Thanksgiving Story to Share

During my recent trip to South Africa, I fell instantly in love — not only with the wines, but with the owners behind Lalela. There is a kindness and authenticity to them that you feel the moment you arrive. As we tasted together, their passion filled the space, and I remember thinking, “I can’t wait to share these wines with our customers.” Thanksgiving felt like the perfect time.

The name Lalela means “Come Listen” in Zulu —
an invitation to slow down, connect, and be present with the people around you. Exactly the feeling we all crave at the Thanksgiving table.

2024 Lalela “Heritage White”

Bright and expressive, this white blend offers lively aromas of green apple, quince and jasmine, followed by a smooth, medium‑bodied palate with fresh acidity and a subtly creamy texture. The finish is clean and elegantly persistent.

Bright, breezy and lively, this wine shows juicy red berry and summer‑fruit aromas, with a silky light‑bodied palate, fresh acid and a clean, chilled‑friendly finish.

2023 Lalela Cinsault, Wellington

Light on its feet yet deeply expressive, the 2023 Lalela Cinsault captures the purity and charm of old-vine fruit from South Africa’s Western Cape. Bright red cherries and pomegranate lead the nose, supported by hints of wild herbs, rooibos, and crushed rose petals. On the palate, it’s delicate and supple with silky tannins, fresh acidity, and a whisper of spice. The finish is lifted, vibrant, and subtly earthy, inviting another sip.
