2023 Domaine Hippolyte Reverdy, Sancerre, Loire Valley, France
Always a cut above textbook Loire Valley Sauvignon Blanc, with bright acidity, smoke, citrus, and grassiness.
ABOUT THIS WINE
Grapes are gently pressed by pneumatic press immediately following the harvest to keep the freshness of the juice, the clear juice is racked and fermented in temperature -controlled stainless steel tank. The wine rests on its lees for two to three months, stirred three to four times to give a bit more texture.
ABOUT THIS PRODUCER
Domaine Hippolyte Reverdy, a family farm that has been making wine in the Village of Verdigny for several generations, perhaps since the 1600s, is one of Perrine's favorite, producing Sancerres with trademark notes of fresh spring flowers and a zesty, mineral finish. Since Kermit Lynch began to work with founder Hippolyte in the 1980s, the wines have been consistently excellent. The current generation, Julie Guiard—Hippolyte’s granddaughter—is as much a humble farmer as any of her ancestors, foregoing vacation and travel to make sure everything is in exactly the right place in her vines and cellar.
