NV Demarie "Sabbia", Piedmont, Italy
The NV Demarie "Sabbia" is a distinctive orange wine from Piedmont, Italy, crafted from the Arneis grape. Its name, "Sabbia" (meaning "sand" in Italian), reflects both the wine's golden hue and the sandy soils of the Roero region where the grapes are cultivated. This wine offers a complex bouquet of dried apricot, chamomile, green tea, and toasted almonds, leading to a full-bodied palate with a mineral-driven finish. Its structured tannins and balanced acidity make it a versatile companion to a variety of dishes.

ABOUT THIS WINE
Demarie's "Sabbia" is produced using 100% Arneis grapes from the sandy soils of the Roero region in Piedmont. The winemaking process involves a slow fermentation on the skins and seeds without temperature control, followed by a long maceration period. The wine is then aged in French oak barriques, which contributes to its rich texture and complex flavor profile. On the nose, it presents intense aromas of ripe peaches, apricots, green tea, and chamomile, with subtle notes of light spices. The palate is full-bodied, showcasing flavors of yellow fruits and nuts, complemented by mineral and saline sensations and light oak nuances. With an alcohol content of 13.5%, this wine has an aging potential of 5-7 years from the harvest. It pairs excellently with fish soup, foie gras, and spicy ethnic foods.
