2020 Scenic Valley Farms Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley, Oregon, USA

A complex melange of ripe, smokey red fruits and tart black cherry wrapped around a core of earth and minerality . The palate is rich without being heavy.

A cuvee of 60% of Wild Hare Vineyard, a high elevation site with crisp acidity and low alcohol levels, blended with 40% from Eola-Amity and Dundee Hills, which gives the wine riper texture and deeper flavors. To combat smoke impact, we used a lower percentage of wild vineyard yeast and more commercial yeast; we also had a shorter length of skin contact time and a higher percentage of new oak. We used carbon fining on specific vineyards, to remove the most intense smoke impact without stripping the wine, and then a light filtration.

Fermented on its skins for 21 days before being barrel aged for 10 months and hand bottled unfiltered.

Deep rooted in family tradition, our family first planted in the Willamette Valley in the 1940's, started Scenic Valley Farms in 1970, and is now run by the third generation. Today, along with grapes we harvest pears, hazelnuts, clover, garlic, wheat, grass seed and hops. The wines at Scenic Valley are grown in our estate vineyards and handcrafted in our estate winery. Our goal with every vintage is to represent our fruit to the highest quality and make wines our friends can enjoy.
