Elena is truly one of the great pioneers of Alto Adige. When she joined her husband’s family estate in the 1980s, she helped transform it into one of the region’s benchmark wineries, focusing on single-vineyard expressions and a deep respect for the incredible alpine terroir of Alto Adige. At a time when very few women were leading wineries in Italy, Elena carved out a path with vision, determination, and impeccable taste.
What I love most about this estate is that it has become a beautiful story of three generations of women in wine. Today, Elena’s daughters, Julia and Karoline Walch, run the winery and continue to elevate the estate with the same passion and precision their mother established. And the next generation is already beginning to take part in the family legacy.
